Mel Russell was born in Bolton, Lancashire, but has lived in Warrington for the last fifteen years. Mel has a diverse taste in music being influenced at an early age by such artistes as Hank Williams, Billy Ekstine and Mario Lanza. He started performing in Pubs and Clubs at the age of fifteen, graduating to Theatre and Cabaret Clubs, and is still very busy performing in Clubs all over Merseyside and the North West. Mel also enjoys visiting and performing at Senior Citizens retirement homes, something he does simply enjoy. Mel turned his hand to song writing about eighteen months ago, "A Tissue Filled With Tears" being his first composition. Encouraged by this he soon wrote "Don't Look Back" and "Out Of My Life". Mel went through a bit of a dry spell in early 1999, but since placing his songs it has given him the confidence and motivation to start writing again, so look out there are more songs to come, Watch this space! |
